The Lake Superior CSA is Coming To Minoqua!

While down in Minocqua earlier this week, Dakota Sherek from WJFW Newswatch 12 joined us to learn more about our CSA! Click the link below to check out the video broadcast or, read the story below.

Minocqua store will stock up on regionally grown food

MINOCQUA - A Minocqua store will stock up on more locally sourced food products this spring and summer season. The Wild Berry Market teamed up with a new community-supported agriculture group, or CSA.
The Lake Superior CSA combines local farmer products into vegetable, meat, and fruit boxes.
"Us being able to put these things together in convenient packages for folks who live in the area is both convenient for them, but really important way for our local farmers to be successful in what they do too," said Lake Superior CSA Manager Evan Flom.
Flom says he hopes that by expanding to Minocqua, the group will generate more support.
"To build more regional resiliency I guess with our local food system. Most of our farmers are Ashland [or] Bayfield county, but the whole Northwoods, we're one group really in a lot of ways," said Flom.
Wild Berry is no stranger to collaborating with CSA groups.
"We just love being able to support local agriculture so we are buying from local farmers as much as we can, so when we can support another local CSA we're happy to do it," said owner Megan Rudisill.
Rudisill says partnering with a CSA also benefits the store and their customers.
"To be able to buy something local and fresh, it's so much healthier for you just alone to do that, much less saving all of the travel expenses and all of the extra money that we save by doing that," said Rudisill. "And being able to support somebody that's actually doing a small farm is fabulous."
The CSA boxes will now be sold at Wild Berry on a bi-weekly basis. For more information, you can visit the Lake Superior CSA Facebook page or website linked below
